Automatic Connection Schedule

The node is currently configured to automatically connect to certain stations at specific times.  This is done to increase potential QSO opportunities, as well as to give local users the opportunity to participate in nets and other regularly scheduled events.

An automatically connected station may be disconnected at any time via the standard disconnect command (#).  If you disconnect an automatically connected station, please restore the connection when you are done using the system (see the list of station shortcuts for help with this.)

The connection schedule is as follows:

  • Weekdays from 8am to 4pm: *CARE_HUB* conference (a group of RF links and repeaters nationwide)

  • Daily from 6pm to 10pm: *N5API* conference

Tips, Tricks, and General Etiquette

  • Please remember to ID before sending any DTMF commands.

  • Please check to see if the link is already connected before connecting to another station; use the 08 command to see who is connected.

  • When transmitting, pause for at least two seconds before speaking (otherwise “clipping” of your first word or two may occur.)

  • Be sure to use the official ITU phonetic alphabet (especially when talking with foreign hams; it’ll save a lot of confusion.)
