About Me

Ok, I guess if you clicked on this
link, you want to know a little more about me. Just remember... you asked!
After listening to
Amateur operators on scanners for years, I finally took my Technician test in
April of 2001. Since then, my Ham addiction has only strengthened. I am involved in many different aspects of the hobby,
including (but certainly not limited to) APRS, Skywarn, EchoLink, and 2 Meter
SSB.
I have amassed many pieces of equipment since I got my
ticket. My favorites include my Icom IC-W32, my Yaesu FT-8800, and my
Kenwood TR-751A, and more
recently my Motorola gear.
As with many operators, my 'shack' is a shared space. The plus side to this is that in my case, I
barely have to get out of bed to
play with my toys! I probably spend a little too much time
in my room.
I am currently a Junior at the
University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. My major is
Emergency Administration and
Planning, and my minor is Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Once I graduate
(hopefully in May 2008,) I'd like to get a job in the public or non-profit
sector (i.e. state or local government, or an organization like the Red Cross.)
Update:
I passed my
General class test this past weekend (March 19th). However, I don't see
myself buying an HF radio anytime soon unless I win the lottery or someone
decides to donate one to me. {grin}
